Interview
How do you like Kiyomizu-dera?
Oh, it's a beautiful place to be, beautiful sunny day, lots of people, lots of ladies in nice dresses, yeah, it's great. I'm enjoying it.
Why did you come to Kiyomizu-dera?
Well, actually, today, very specially I came to visit the Ghibli shop. My wife wants a very special present from there, so I've come to visit that, but whilst I'm here, I'm taking the opportunity to look around a few temples, and just enjoy the day.
Have you been anywhere else in Japan?
I've had the pleasure of traveling quite extensively over Japan. I went to [see] the snow monkeys about two weeks ago, three weeks ago. That is really very special. Really very special.
Would you recommend Kyoto to your friends and family?
Absolutely. Last year, I brought my parents here, and this year, I'm bringing my mother-in-law here, so this is kind of an exploration just to make sure I've got the right places so I take her to the right places when she's here.
Are there any similarities between Japan and where you're from?
Not really. I mean, the people here are very friendly, they're very friendly in England; very helpful here, very helpful in England, but... it's a different world. It is a different world. It's a very beautiful world, but it's a different world.
