Interview
How do you like Kiyomizu-dera?
I found it a very deepening and interesting experience. Being from Canada, there's a lot of recent churches that we have, with a lot of recent construction and buildings, but this here is something totally different. The temples have been there for almost eons. It's been there for a very long time so it's very deepening.
Why did you come to Kiyomizu-dera?
Obviously, as you travel, you look around a lot of traveling sites, or websites as well, and we looked at Lonely Planet which strongly recommended this place and taking look at the pictures as well, we thought this would be the first place that we would visit in Kyoto. So that's how we got here.
Have you been anywhere else in Japan?
Yeah, we've been to the south, we've been to Okinawa, stuck in a typhoon there, which was an interesting experience. Then we moved a little further north, going to Kobe, so now we are moving back to Kyoto and the probably going back north and ending up in Tokyo as well.
What made you decide to come to Japan?
We were looking for something out of ordinary, something that would make us unable to speak the language there and read or understand anything, having a new experience, and meeting new people so Japan was a great place for that.
